PTFE membranes are long-lasting hollow fiber precision filtration (MF) membranes with excellent membrane strength and chemical resistance. The degradation that occurs during long-term use of the membrane includes a decline in mechanical strength and permeability. Regarding the degradation of mechanical strength, PTFE membranes inherently possess very strong strength and excellent chemical resistance, so there is almost no degradation even after long-term use. Additionally, the decrease in permeability is related to the types of chemicals that can be used for membrane cleaning. PTFE membranes demonstrate strong resistance to acids, alkalis, oxidizing agents, etc., allowing for cleaning with strong chemicals that were not possible with conventional membranes. Therefore, the removal of fouling substances from the membrane during long-term use becomes easier, enabling safe operation over extended periods.
